The Linda Angelis L.A.Band feat:Brazilian guitarist: Mario Bakuna.

Linda Angelis is recognized internationally as both singer & composer, and has several albums of her own music published by Prestige Elite records. She has performanced worldwide including The Carmel Jazz club owned by none other than Clint Eastwood and, it was there on hearing a Brazilian band she fell in love with this sensual sound. Tonight's program includes tributes to master Brazilian composers Sergio Mendes & Jobim, among others so we're delighted to have as special guest the dazzling Brazilian guitarist from Sao Paulo Mario Bakuna.

Mario is well known for his deep exploration of traditional Brazilian rhythms such as samba & bossa nova but his repertoire also contains original compositions and fresh arrangements of works by other iconic artists like; Dorival Caymmi, Paulo Moura & João Donato.

Tonight's stellar line up incl: Linda Angelis: vocals, Mario Bakuna: guitar, Zoltan Sagi: saxes & Keith York: drums

Dom Pipkin & The Ikos​

Dom Pipkin has been described by Blues in Britain as “one of the world’s greatest exponents of New Orleans piano”. He first became hooked on the New Orleans style in the early 90s, and has now become a regular visitor and performer in that city, appearing at the highly acclaimed “Piano Night” and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival.Pipkin mixes his own style with the unique flavours of maverick New Orleans piano star James Booker (1939 - 1983) capturing the player’s trademark combination of driving blues and rhapsodic classical influences.Pipkin & The Ikosdeliver some of the most authentic, compelling & and life affirming blend of blues, gospel, and jazz that is uniquely New Orleans. Pipkin has performed with greats such as Dr.John, Allen Toussaint & Screamin' Jay Hawkins. and toured worldwide with the band Morcheeba.
On screen, Pipkin stars in the Netflix thriller, Black Doves, and A Thousand Blows by the creators of Peaky Blinders.
Pipkin is an educator, runs a highly popular New Orleans jam session in London, and writes articles based around keyboards for 'Blues Matters' magazine.

The Steve King Big Band

Tonight we welcome the return of the Steve King Big Band one of the Midland’s leading exponents of big band music. The current line-up is an eclectic mix of seasoned and semi-pros, including some of the brightest sparks on the jazz scene today helping to keep the band at the forefront of the burgeoning big band movement.
Since winning a talent competition with a major brewery in the early days the band has gone from strength to strength, appearing at every major venue in the West Midlands playing for concert and dance engagements and several sell out appearances at Ronnie Scott's. It was amongst the prize winners at the annual Musicians' Union Big Band Contest an unprecedented nine times, winning outright on two occasions. They have released six bestselling albums, and have
and have released a new CD as part of its 50th Anniversary. The band can be heard regularly on many radio stations including several BBC Local Radio stations and Black Country Radio 102.5FM. It has also had tracks played on BBC Radio 3’s “Jazz Record Requests”.
Vocals are in the very capable hands of Lynn Dawes who hails from the USA. Lynn has appeared on four of the band’s albums and has proved a big hit with audiences throughout the UK.

Concerts usually finish just after 10 pm. Access to The Bonded Warehouse is via two short flights of stairs and may not be suitable for those with disabilities. Free parking is available alongside the Bonded Warehouse in Canal Street.

There will be no refreshments served but patrons may bring a moderate amount of refreshments, including alcoholic drinks, for their own consumption during the concert.
